Cedar-Lined Leather 5-Cigar Travel Case — product image 1

TL;DR — The cedar-lined leather five-cigar case is a zippered travel humidor with a leather exterior, a cedar interior with five individual channels, and stated limits of 165 mm length and 23.5 mm diameter, the widest stated channel of any enclosed case here. It accepts a small humidity pack but does not include one. $59.

Who buys this case

A smoker who travels for a few days at a time with four or five cigars and wants them enclosed, separated, and against cedar, without stepping up to eight channels. It is also the case for large-gauge smokers who travel: a 58 fits its 23.5 mm channel, which no other enclosed case here states. It is a bag case, 210 × 150 × 38 mm, not a pocket case.

Specifications as supplied

Capacity 5 cigars
Product size 210 × 150 × 38 mm
Maximum cigar length 165 mm
Maximum cigar diameter 23.5 mm
Included One case; humidity pack not included

Both interior figures are published. The 165 mm limit is the number to watch: it excludes Churchills.

Which cigars fit

Length: Robustos, Toros, and 6.5 in cigars (165 mm) at the limit; a Churchill (178 mm) does not. Diameter: a 54 (21.4 mm) with 2 mm spare, a 56 (22.2 mm) with 1.3 mm, a 58 (23.0 mm) with 0.5 mm, a 60 (23.8 mm) not without forcing. It is the enclosed case for Toro-length cigars up to 58.

Construction and closure

Leather outside, cedar inside, a five-channel tray the supplier describes as removable or fitted, and a perimeter zipper that encloses the interior on all sides. The enclosure is what makes a humidity pack useful; a small two-way pack sits beside the tray. The zipper is the only moving part and the only thing that fails; keep it free of grit and never force it over a bulging interior.

Against its neighbours

Against the eight-cigar travel humidor: three more channels, elastic straps, a pack in the box, and no published interior at $69; this case has two fewer channels, no straps, no pack, and both figures published at $59. Against the solid-cedar four-cigar case: longer inside (190 mm) but narrower (22 mm), rigid, open, and clasped. Against the horse-motif tube case: pocket-sized, 25 mm tubes, no enclosure.

Care that applies here

Brush the cedar dry; wipe the leather dry; brush the zipper teeth after sand or salt. Replace the pack when stiff. Store it half-zipped and empty between trips. Do not oil the zipper; graphite from a pencil is the odourless option if it stiffens.

Before ordering

If your regular cigar is over 165 mm, this is the wrong case; look at the solid-cedar tray. If it is a 58, this is the right one. Buy a small two-way pack (65–69%) with the order elsewhere, since none is included.

Frequently asked questions

Which pack fits?

A small two-way pack of the size sold for 5–10 cigars, at 65% or 69%.

Is the tray removable?

The supplier says removable or fitted; on units supplied it lifts out for cleaning.

Will a Churchill fit diagonally?

No. The channels are 165 mm and the case is not designed for diagonal loading.

How long can cigars stay in it?

A week or two with a fresh pack in a temperate room; it is a travel case, not a humidor.
